Vacations in Costa Rica is a great way to relax, and have fun and learn about this beautiful country.
There are many different things to do and explore while traveling: wild life explorations, birds watching, deep water fishing, zip line fun, explore many volcanoes, located in Costa Rica or just to relax on the beach or in tropical paradise.
We arrived in San Jose to a nearby bed and breakfast via taxi and met with our group that evening for dinner. We were all very excited to start our vacation in Costa Rica.
That being said, it was the gorgeous countryside that I fell in love with during my vacation in Costa Rica. Keep in mind, we were on a group-planned trip and really got to cover a large area with several activities planned every day. We stayed one to two nights in each location, as I recall all these places, one place, Palo Verde National Park sticks out in my mind.
Located on along the banks of the Tempisque River, south of Liberia and Bagaces. For people, who likes nature, it is a highlight of this beautiful country. It is quite a place to see, teeming with local wildlife in a tropical rain forest setting. Covering over 71 square miles, the park was something to truly admire during our Costa Rican vacation. To this day, looking at the vivid colors of wildlife, while thumbing trough the pictures on my camera, makes me smile. I enjoy reliving the moments of capturing these animals on film. Grey and black Howler monkeys peering at you through the leaves. Bright green, blue-toed frogs clinging with googly eyes to the sides of trees, all just wonderful creatures to gaze at and to appreciate. Even though some time you may not see many animals, we were lucky and have seen many of them.
The best time to visit Palo Verde for bird watching is during the dry season-January thru April, a time offering slightly less vegetation allowing an un-obscured view of bird life. The park holds the largest collection of waterfowls and migratory birds in Central American Coastline during the wet season. Supporting over 250,000 different species of birds. The Tempisque River has the largest population of fresh water crocodiles in the country.
Recommend for visitors to stop by the park’s Biological Station, a place of extensive research concerning the flora and fauna of the forest. The forests of Palo Verde constitute one of the most endangered forest types in the world-the dry rain forest. The station contains a herbarium and library which is supported by the University of Costa Rica. Ecologists from all over the world gather to study this special ecosystem and take courses offered here by the university.
This scenic and adventurously stunning country holds numerous memories which happily occupy my mind. Can’t express the want I have to go back on more Costa Rica vacations! Pura Vida!
